An organic remedy for sickly plants is to feed them with a liquid feed directly onto their leaves or roots. These organic liquid feeds can be rich in the elements the plants might need like nitrogen or potassium and can provide a quick boost to their systems .

The favorite way to make an organic liquid feed is to use either a compost or an animal manure as the basis . A container will be filled with water and the solid material is suspended from a piece of wood across the top inside some sort of porous sack or item of hosiery. It takes one to two weeks and several stirrings before the feed can be used.

Dilute fluid about one to 40 before use depending on strength of brew. Animal manure is not as strong in nitrogen as bird manure so use weaker strength for chicken or pigeon manure.

Liquid feed can be made from such vegetable sources as Comfrey leaves or stinging nettles as they are both rich in nitrogen and potassium and so are good for tomatoes,cucumbers and peppers. You could use a similar method as above or just soak the wilted leaves in water. If you have a container with a tap at the bottom dry leaves can be compressed for a week or two when they decompose and release a thick fluid which can be drawn off through the tap.

Waste vegetable material can be made useful by soaking in water, to both extract nutrients and to kill the roots, for a minimum of four weeks. the liquid makes an organic feed and the solid part an addition to a compost heap

Seaweed is a very rich source of minerals and can be used provided the salt is washed off and it is not polluted with oil.

Do not forget that fresh human urine is a source of free nutrients and not harmful to plants if diluted half and half with water.
