Understanding The Art Of Patio Cleaning Using A Pressure Washer Effectively

Understanding the art of patio cleaning using a pressure washer effectively and in such a manner that the patio is properly and thoroughly cleaned can require a bit of skill and knowledge. Patios, which many people have in their backyards, are not exactly a great do-it-yourself project, though for those willing to try, it can be done.

For those who do attempt cleaning, they find that much scrubbing and washing is usually needed, along with a great deal of water or other cleaners. Sooner or later, though, most people get tired of such manual cleaning processes and purchase a pressure washer to help them deal with the effort of cleaning stone and surfaces of slime or dirt.

It’s also important to note that the best pressure washers all make use of commercial-grade boilers to heat their water to extreme temperatures. These hot water pressure washers are the best when it comes to patio cleaning, but most people wouldn’t want to spend the money needed to get a really good cleaner. Most inexpensive cleaners, unfortunately, aren’t usually very good at patio watching.

However, any pressure washer is better than none at all, so it’s important to keep in mind a few issues when taking a pressure washer and using it as a part of a do-it-yourself project. The first thing to always keep in mind is to work with the proper safety equipment, including goggles and gloves.

This is because pressures at the nozzle tip in a pressure washer can be extreme. It is not uncommon for a person whose skin is exposed to such high-pressure to see that skin, at minimum, reddened and bruised and at worst, stripped away. Safety goggles are needed to protect the eyes, also. Additionally, ensure that the right kind of spray tip is used in all cases.

After those minor issues have been looked at, one might also consider using a strong grade of cleaner to pre-treat the patio surfaces in order to do the best job possible. Extremely hot water works great, but some stones and woods their age may require something a bit more chemical in nature. And this is another reason why safety gear is needed.

When looking at the art of patio cleaning using a pressure washer in an objective manner, it soon becomes evident that while a patio can make for a somewhat involved do-it-yourself project, it might be a better idea to make use of the services of a professional. Sooner or later, all the water and muck and dirt can be a bit too much for most people, after all.

The Factor Of Growing Plants With Artificial Light

When growing under artificial light – the light intensity factor may be more important than type of light or even the number of hours of light per day. It is as important as daylight of adequate intensity in window gardening. The average intensity of artificial light for most types of plants – measured at or near the plants, not above them or to one side – should be the rough equivalent of daylight in midmorning on a bright summer day. Semi-shade loving plants will accept less intensity; full-flowering sun-lovers will need more.

Light intensity is measured in foot candles, with a light meter. Readings from a photographer’s meter can be converted into foot candles, or you can get a meter with foot-candle readings that does not require conversion.

The first step in supplying light of sufficient intensity is to install an adequate number of fluorescent tubes, with or without a reflector. The next consideration is the distance between tubes and plants. Intensity decreases as the distance increases. Consider all these factors when you plan any installation of artificial lighting for plants.

Duration of Light

Plants need darkness for some hours every day – not to sleep, but to convert the food manufactured during lighted periods into energy and growth. Artificial lights or solar led lights are not burned around the clock. If the light like is sufficiently intense, sixteen hours per day is generally adequate. If your lights are not strong enough, you can increase their effectiveness to some extent by burning them for two or three hours longer.

Before you complete any plans for growing plants under artificial light, check them against the latest reliable information available from experiment stations and universities, horticultural societies and libraries, or companies that manufacture fluorescent tubes. In case this seems bothersome, consider what you can have for your trouble – almost any kind of indoor garden or plant decoration you want, the year round, without time out for winter or interruption by dark weather. After the initial cost of installation, the upkeep is an inexpensive minor matter.
