I am a resident of Dallas TX and have been often asked this question many times: what do I do with all this junk that has piled up over the years? I work with a disposal company so I should know the answer to that. And my favorite way to answer that question is: Have you ever thought about sanitary landfills in Dallas for your waste?

Well if you have a bunch of trash but don’t know what to do with it that is probably going to be your best bet if you’re on a tight budget. And when I say trash, I mean a truck load or two of unwanted home garbage.

Have you ever thought about stepping foot in a landfill yourself? That very well could be your solution. Many people don’t really consider that option often. Almost everyone has heard of popular disposal companies who charge large sums of money for their services.

But a garbage company might not always have to be our only option. On average, the cheapest dumpster that companies charge for is about $225.00 for a 12 yard dumpster. This is always a good price. However, you might not even need a dumpster after all.

Does your city have a landfill? Then consider making a phone call or taking a trip to visit it! If you decide to dump the trash yourself it will most likely take more time and effort than hiring a disposal company, but the end result is definitely more affordable. All you really need to have is a truck.

Most of the local (city owned) landfill’s will provide a free pass to dump your trash in it! Yeah that’s right, FREE! There is no charge to you if you are a local resident; all you need to do is take your license and proof of residency. Dumping trash is simply getting easier and easier as the years come along.

So what is the general process of getting rid of your own trash instead of calling some of those well known (really) expensive hauling companies? Get a truck, load it with your trash, take it to your own cities’ landfill- take your license with you and proof of residency- and you are almost certain to get your trash dumped with no hassle.

If by chance you find that it’s not for free, I can assure you that it will be double the amount if you choose to have a hauling service provided for you. Most likely you will find that those who charge you to haul your trash away also own landfill’s in your city and are located in a nearby location.

Please take note that any landfill not owned by the city IS going to charge you way more than what the city will if the city even charges you. So don’t just go to any landfill that you find. Call and find out more about them first, it could save you a lot of money.

Be aware that this option to go with dumping it yourself is only better when you only have a truck load or two of trash and you have the time to make both trips.
